Bill Hammond has a secret ability. It rots him away inside. Others might say he has a gift, but others haven’t walked in his shoes. Bill has the ability to see his dead loved ones; disturbing images from past dysfunctional relationships. His mother, grandmother and great-grandfather had this ‘gift’ and it drove them all to suicide. After a devastating tragedy with his wife Bill learned to deal with his ability by avoiding interactions with the apparitions and refraining from creating any further close relationships.
At the local community college he teaches an elective course for the love of the material, not the interaction with the students. In the twilight of his career, as a new semester begins, he meets a young man who reminds him of himself in his formative years. Bill feels an enigmatical need to lend his support to him. The interactions between the two precede a catastrophic event that drives Bill into an emotional downward spiral. Distraught by the event he comes face-to-face with his own skeletons and embarks on a journey to correct the things that haunt him. But does Bill have the fortitude and the time to see it through to the end? |
